Personal Injury
Definition
In insurance terms, personal injury refers to non-physical injuries such as libel, slander, defamation, false arrest, wrongful eviction, and invasion of privacy. This is different from bodily injury. Personal injury coverage is included in most homeowners and CGL policies under the personal and advertising injury section.
When This Matters
A business competitor claims you made false statements about their company. Your CGL policy's personal injury coverage pays for your legal defense.
