Employers Liability

Definition

Part Two of a workers compensation policy that covers the employer against lawsuits by employees for work-related injuries not covered by the workers compensation system. While workers comp provides no-fault benefits, employers liability covers situations where an employee claims the employer was negligent.

When This Matters

An employee's spouse sues your company for loss of consortium related to a workplace injury. Employers liability coverage pays for your legal defense and any damages.
