Comprehensive Coverage
Definition
Auto insurance coverage that pays for damage to your vehicle from non-collision events such as theft, vandalism, falling objects, fire, hail, flooding, and animal strikes. Like collision, it is optional but typically required by lenders.
When This Matters
A hailstorm damages your car's roof and hood. Comprehensive coverage pays for the repairs minus your deductible.
