Personal Property
Definition
Your belongings — furniture, clothing, electronics, appliances, and other movable items. On a homeowners policy, personal property is covered under Coverage C, typically at 50-70% of your dwelling coverage limit. Standard policies cover personal property on a named-peril basis, meaning only specific listed causes of loss are covered.
When This Matters
A fire destroys your furniture, clothing, and electronics. Personal property coverage reimburses you for these items, subject to your coverage limit and either ACV or replacement cost valuation.
